This temple is located in Amaravathi town near Guntur City in Andhra Pradesh. The temple is situated on the southern banks of River Krishna.

History & Sacred Legend

It is believed that this Sivalinga was owned by the Asura King Tarakasura. No one could win over him due to the power of this Sivalinga. With the request from Devas, finally Lord Kumaraswamy broke the Sivalinga into five pieces and killed Tarakasura. The five pieces of Sivalinga were taken to five different places on earth by Indra, Surya, Chandra, Lord Vishnu and Lord Kumaraswamy. This Linga is one of the five pieces brought and installed by Indra.
