|
Lumpadhip was the king of Mlech dynasty. His wife was Vishala. Once the king, according to the advice of Brahmins, went to the ashram of Brahmin Saamag for war. Then he asked the Brahmin for his cow Kamadhenu. But the Brahmin refused. So, the king destroyed the whole ashram along with Kamadhenu. The king even killed the Brahmin with his arrow and went from there. After some time Samidha, the son of the Brahmin returned to the ashram. He was very sad seeing his father dead and cursed the king that he will be plagued by diseases. Due to that curse, the king was plagued by diseases and was dying. Seeing the king worried, Sage Narada appeared there and told him about Samidha's curse. The sage also instructed him to worship the Shivalinga situated near Keshavarka Mahadev at Mahakal forest. The king, along with his queen bathed in Shipra river and worshipped the Linga. The king got his diseases cured and he along with his wife gave respect to the sages. As the Linga was worshipped by Lumpadhip, the Linga came to be known as Lumpeshwar. Whoever worships this Linga with full devotion, will have his sins destroyed and will reach Heaven after death. |
