Once, Lord Indra along with all the Devas stayed at Nandanvan where Rambha was dancing. Due to some thoughts, she lost her concentration. Lord Indra got angry and cursed her that she should wander in the Earth. Some of her friends also accompanied her. Sage Narada visited them and Rambha explained that incident to the sage. Sage Narada told her to worship the Shivalinga at Mahakal forest. He also recalled the incident of Urvashi worshipping that Linga and so got married to Pururava. Rambha offered pooja to that Linga and was freed from Lord Indra's curse. Due to the poojas of two Apsaras, the Linga came to be known as Apsareshwar. All the wishes will be fulfilled by this Linga. By touching this Linga, one will endure the happiness of ruling a kingdom.
