Indradumneshwar Mahadev
|
|
Raja Indradumn performed a yagna for the benefit of his people and the Earth. He distributed more money as donations. So he reached heaven after death. When his virtues got over, he fell down unconscious. After regaining his consciousness, he got worried. It is known that whatever is done on Earth, the result will reflect in the heaven. So we should not perform any bad deeds because defeat is due to bad deeds. So we will take birth again and face the difficulties. When a man performs good deeds, he lives in heaven and when he performs bad deeds, he is born again and faces the difficulties. Greedy to attain the heaven, Indradumn went to Himachal. He met Sage Markandeya and asked him about the ways to attain fame. The sage replied that your fame is present in the Earth but you are living amidst the Devas. The sage also ordered him to visit Mahakal forest and worship the Shivalinga near Kalkaleshwar Mahadev which destroys all the sins, to attain high fame. Indradumn went to Avanthikapuri and worshipped that Linga. All the Devas and Gandharvas became happy and showered blessings on him. All the Devas sitting on their respective vehicles (Vahanas) praised that his fame is pure. As the Linga was worshipped by Indradumn, that Linga came to be known as Indradumneshwar Mahadev. |
