During olden days, Pitamah did a penance in Mahakal forest in which all the Brahmins were present. Lord Shiva came there in the guise of Kapalik. When the Brahmins saw him with skulls, they started attacking him. During the attack the skulls fell down. As soon as the skulls were thrown, it got multiplied into thousands and lakhs. The Brahmins realized the truth. They repented for their mistake. Lord Shiva replied that the place where you threw the skulls, a Shivalinga is formed. If you worship that you will be freed from Brahmahasti Dosha. Whoever worships this Linga, gets freed from his sins and reaches Shiva Lok.
