Once when the demons defeated all the Devas and captured Heaven, all the Devas came to Bhoolok. While they were wandering, they were astonished to meet Sage Agasthiya and pleaded him for help. Sage Agasthiya got angered by the behavior of demon and his angry flames brought the demon to earth and burnt them. Later Sage Agasthiya realized that he has killed many demon and he got �Brammahasti Dosha� because of that. With the advice of Lord Brahma, Sage installed a linga in the northern part of Mahakal forest and offered pooja. Lord Shiva was pleased with the devotion of Sage Agasthiya and freed him from �Brammahasti Dosha� Thus when we pray this Linga here, we get freed from sin and reach Mt. Kailash after death.
